The fuel cell in the engine

Fuel cells generate electric current through the controlled reaction of hydrogen and air oxygen. In doing so, fuel cell systems work completely free of emissions, are extremely quiet and comfortable.

Fuel cell systems are predestined for use in vehicles. With regeneratively produced hydrogen, fuel cell vehicles of the future will make an important contribution to sustainable mobility. With efficiencies of 38 percent in drive cycles (NEDC), fuel cell vehicles already enjoy double the fuel economy of conventional gasoline vehicles, and there is still a lot of potential for improvement.

The NuCellSys fuel cell system has been developed for operation in passenger cars. The combination of two systems in connection with intelligent energy management is just as well suited for the propulsion of heavy-duty vehicles, in particular city buses. Optimal energy management increases the efficiency of the engine even further and guarantees a longer service life and higher robustness.
