NuCellSys - a future-oriented initiative

NuCellSys is the result and the crystallization point of a long-term strategy. Daimler and Ford Motor Company are pushing the development of fuel cell systems for their vehicles forwards with vision, continuity and great commitment.
Milestones in the development of the enterprise:

After initial contacts in the early 1990's, Daimler-Benz and Ballard Power Systems agree on a cooperation in the development of fuel cell drives.

1997 The partners found the company 'dbb fuel cell engines' for the development of complete fuel cell systems.

1998 Ford Motor Company joins the alliance.

1999 dbb changes its name to 'XCELLSIS - The Fuel Cell Engine Company', and in 2001 is integrated into Ballard Power Systems in the course of an alliance restructuring.

2005 Daimler and Ford take over the system business and found 'NuCellSys GmbH - The Fuel Cell System Company' as a joint venture, which has been developing and manufacturing fuel cell systems for vehicle applications since.

2007 Daimler and Ford take over the stack business from Ballard Power Systems and found AFCC - Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation as a joint venture..

NuCellSys employees are future-oriented, but are also pleased to look back with pride at past successful projects. They possess practical experience and invaluable accumulated know-how.
